It’s customary, when opening a new business, to say what led us to it and what the journey was like. Honestly? It was mainly our appetite. And one simple fact — in Prague, we couldn’t find two flavours we truly love. The kind that carry history, character, and honesty. So we told ourselves that if we couldn’t find them, we would bring them ourselves. And if you’re going to open something, why not something people were happily devouring as far back as Ancient Rome, and that Jewish immigrants later brought to Britain? From that first idea, it wasn’t far to finding the right place. We viewed a few spaces — some better, some worse, and some downright terrifying. Until eventually, THAT place crossed our path. A quick call with the estate agent, a viewing, a decision, presenting the project to the owner. We certainly weren’t the only interested party. But we all know there are plenty of wine bars, burger places, and kebab shops already. And that convinced our dear landlord — as we like to call him. Then all that was left was to sign the contract and start transforming the space according to the design created by our friend. The renovations took longer than expected. Just when we thought we were finished, something else always appeared that needed adjusting, fixing, or knocking down. And it was rarely clean, dust-free work — it usually required tools, machinery, and a fair bit of brute force. But we made it. And now comes the final touch — the name. As we discovered, CRISP & CRACKEL isn’t the easiest thing to say or spell, but it perfectly captures what you’ll get from us.
